Cosmetic tattooing is also known as micro pigmentation or semi-permanent makeup. It consists of pigment being inserted below the top layer of the dermis with sterile micro needles to mimic hair strokes or makeup which enhance the features of the face.
You must be 18 years of age to get a cosmetic tattoo at Arch by Jessica Riley.
EYEBROWS – If you normally fill or enhance your eyebrows with makeup, feel free to wear your usual makeup to the treatment for reference and bring your brow makeup along.

LIPS – If you are prone to cold sores please consider taking an antiviral as a preventative measure, as well as post-treatment. Please bring your favourite lip colours along to show me, I often work to use colours very similar to what you are used to using for lip blush tattooing.

FEATHERED, COMBO OR OMBRE BROWS – Immediately after your treatment your brows will appear darker, larger and more defined on your face. The morning after your treatment your brows will have oxidised further and it is normal to feel your brows are too intense for you. Your colour will fade back 30-50% and strokes will soften 7-10 days after your treatment.  Minimal swelling is expected, with redness occurring on very sensitive skin types.

LIP BLUSH – Immediately after your treatment, your lips will appear swollen. This is normal and can take 24-48 hours to subside. Your lips will appear a brighter colour which will fade by at least 50% during the healing process to create a natural lip blush appearance.

Feathered (microbladed) eyebrows will last 9-18 months, with most of my clients returning every 1-2 years for colour boost treatments. Each client will differ, as we are using a semi-permanent pigment which is metabolised by the body. Pigment can be faded rapidly by sun exposure, tinting eyebrows, skin care (Retinol, Glycolics, AHA’s) and skin treatments (microdermabrasion, laser, peels, Vitamin infusions) used close to or over the treated area regularly.

Ombre brows will last 12-24 months as more pigment is inserted below the skin with this technique, a great option for those who cannot hold feathering, have lax skin, or very oily skin types or simply prefer the look of ombre brows.

Lip blush will last 2-3 years, and may well last well beyond this time in many skins.

Colour boost sessions are always recommended to keep your cosmetic tattoo looking fresh.

There are detailed aftercare instructions given to you on the day. It is advisable to strictly adhere to these guidelines to achieve the best results.

Please note: You cannot exercise or use swimming pools, saunas or spas for 10 days post-treatment. You cannot wear makeup on, or too close to the treated area for 10-14 days post-treatment.

Arch by Jessica Riley does NOT tattoo during pregnancy or breastfeeding. I want the best for your baby, and your face – and it is just safer to wait. There are many factors at play during this time and best results are not achieved.
I use high quality, stable pigments which stay true to colour in most skins. However, there are some who will experience a colour shift to a different tone during fading. Many factors affect these changes which are internal (iron deficiency, metabolic breakdown) as well as sun exposure without protection. These shifts in colour are rare, however are very easily adjusted during your 12-18 monthly colour boost session.
Yes, a good sunscreen should be applied to the treated area AFTER healing (2 weeks). This should be done at any time you will be in the sun so as to avoid the rapid fading of your cosmetic tattoo, as well as help keep the colour of your tattoo true.
Yes! Absolutely! I pride myself on using all single use, sterile equipment as well as adhering to strict hygiene practises during your treatment. Everything is disposed of, all work surfaces disinfected, and bedding changed between every client.
